Update and news

Thank you very much for the great turn out at Wednesday evening's Pasta Feed. The 6th grade was well attended and made $379.00 dollars from the bakery table!  This will go towards the scholarships from Walker Creek.  It appeared to be an overall success and most importantly an opportunity for our 6-8 grade school community to get together.

 

Tonight, Friday, we have our second school dance. Our 6th grade Academy students have been buying tickets and it appears they will be well represented.  Please remember that the dance is over at 9:00 p.m. and students should be picked up promptly. We have some of the cookies and pastries left over from the Pasta Feed that will be used at the dance tonight.

 

Thank you for responding to my last email regarding your desire to have an evening with the teachers to review Ipad procedures and to get an update on how they are being used and how you can support your children more effectively.  We are confirming a date and I will communicate this with you next week.  Thanks again for your support and participation.   John

 

Muchas gracias por su assistencia a nuestra Comida Italiana el ultimo miércoles. El 6 º grado contó con la asistencia e hizo $ 379.00 dólares de la mesa de la panadería! Esto se destinará a las becas de Walker Creek. Parecía ser un éxito total y lo más importante, una oportunidad para  la comunidad reunirse.

Esta noche, viernes, tenemos nuestra segunda  danza. Nuestros estudiantes de grado sexto de la Academia han sido la compra de entradas y parece que estará bien representada. Por favor, recuerde que el baile ha terminado a las 9:00 pm y los estudiantes deben ser recogidos pronto. Tenemos algunas de las galletas y pasteles sobrantes de la alimentación Pasta que se utilizará esta noche en el baile.

Gracias por haber respondido a mi último emial con respecto a su deseo de tener una noche con los maestros para revisar los procedimientos de Ipad y para obtener una actualización sobre cómo se están utilizando y cómo usted puede apoyar a sus hijos con mayor eficacia. Pasta feed and other items

Hope this note finds you on the verge of a nice weekend! The 6th grade Advisory Council met last night and reviewed a number of items:

 

The cost for the entire Walker Creek Outdoor Ed. program was 14,857. If everyone continues to pay on the schedule they selected we will need to raise approximately 2,500 dollars  over the course of this year to pay for the Scholarships. One way to do this is to support the Pasta Feed  next Wednesday, 10/26 5:30-7:30.   An email will be forthcoming from  a parent coordinator asking you for support. We all agreed that the Walker Creek experience was well worth it, even if it did get wet.

 

Another parent coordinator will be  creating a data base to account for the ten hours of required support of the program . Many of you have already satisfied the ten hour a year  minimum by your service at Walker Creek!

 

Every Wednesday the teachers are reserving time for parent conferences but you must call them or email them to make a date. You may email them at: Danny  Bever dbever@pet.k12.ca.us and Danna Rocca  Drocca@pet.k12.ca.us .

 

 We are planning a field trip to SSU for a winter music concert and the Llano Rd. Water Treatment Plant for November. More information and requests for parent drivers will be coming later. If you completed a drivers insurance form for Walker Creek it will still be in effect for these field trips.

 

Please return this email if you would like to have an evening to refresh your experience in working with the Ipad and or to get an overview of how the SMART BOARDS are being utilized in class. We will schedule a date to this on site in one of the classrooms.

 

We are identifying children who would benefit from specific assistance and or tutoring after school and may be asking some of you to help out.

 

Lastly, the elective classes will be shifting at the end of the next grading period, Friday, October 28. Unless your child is in band they will rotate from either Spanish or French to Art for the next twelve weeks.  I hope to see you all at the Pasta Feed on Wednesday. Thanks John

 

Esperamos que esta nota se encuentra al borde de un fin de semana! El 6 º grado del Consejo Consultivo se reunió ayer por la noche y examinó un número de elementos:
El costo de la totalidad de Walker Creek exterior Ed. programa fue 14.857. Si todo el mundo sigue pagando en el horario que eligieron tendremos que recaudar aproximadamente 2.500 dólares en el transcurso de este año para pagar las becas. Una forma de hacerlo es apoyar la alimentación Pasta próximo Miércoles, 10.26 5:30-07:30. Un correo electrónico se enviará en breve de un coordinador de padres que le pide ayuda. Todos coincidimos en que la experiencia de Walker Creek valió la pena, aunque se mojaran.
Otro coordinador de padres será la creación de una base de datos para tener en cuenta las diez horas de apoyo que requieren del programa. Muchos de ustedes ya cumple las diez horas un mínimo de un año por su servicio en Walker Creek!

 Estamos planeando un viaje de campo a SSU para un concierto de música de invierno y la Calle Llano. Planta de Tratamiento de agua para noviembre. 6th grade fund raiser opportunity

     Greetings, today your children will be bringing home a flyer explaining the details for the upcoming Pasta Feed Fundraiser scheduled for Wednesday, October 26. Out 6^th grade Academy has the responsibility and profits for the dessert table. Please ask your child for the flyer and indicate how you can support this event by either baking some dessert, cakes or volunteer your time at the table. Please have your child return the form this coming Monday so we can plan.

            It is a great way for us to make some money and participate in a community building event.  A week has passed since Walker Creek and aside from a case or two of poison oak, the response has been very positive. The children really came together as a team and it was wonderful to see all the parent participation. Have a nice weekend.  John

Saludos, sus hijos se llevará a casa hoy en día un folleto que explica los detalles de la próxima Pasta de alimentación para recaudar fondos programada para miércoles, el 26 de octubre. A cabo el 6 º grado de la Academia tiene la responsabilidad y los beneficios para la mesa de postres. Por favor, pregunte a su hijo para el folleto e indicar cómo se puede apoyar este evento, ya sea para hornear un poco de postre, pasteles o voluntario de su tiempo en la mesa. Por favor, haga que su hijo regrese el formulario el próximo lunes para que podamos planear.
Es una gran manera para que podamos hacer algo de dinero y participar en un evento de construcción de la comunidad. Walker Creek Here We Come!

We are ready to go to Walker Creek on Monday. Let's hope for good weather! Please remember to arrive for school at the regular time on Monday. Bring all the gear to the Multi Purpose Room. On the inside west wall of the MPR will be posted lists of your child's name along with their assigned drivers. Please place the gear there. The drivers will begin loading and taking the kids out at 9:45 am. Thanks to all for your support in making this happen.

 

Some tips to turn a little nervousness and anxiety into anticipation and excitement: It is only natural for the children to be anxious about being away from home. So, with preparation comes confidence. Start putting the gear out clearly visible in the child's room or the living room floor, check it a few times in the morning and afternoon with him or her, get them familiar with everything and add something if it comes to mind. This way they become a little more comfortable with the planning, the clothes, etc, and confidence will follow. Ask them to bring you something special back as a keepsake and write them a little note that they can open each day. It really will be a confidence and team building activity.  Thanks again and see you Monday.

 

Estamos listos, y muchas gracias a todos nuestros padres voluntarios para conducir y ser líderes de la cabina. Por favor, recuerde que su hijo llegue a la escuela el lunes en el horario habitual. Favor de traer todo el equipo de la TPM. En la pared oeste hay dentro se publicarán las listas con el nombre de su hijo junto con el controlador principal. Por favor, coloque todo el equipo en ese mismo lugar con el signo. Conductores de los padres se les dará las listas y las tarjetas de emergencia para sus grupos a las 9:45 y empiezan a salir poco después. Ahora, sólo esperamos porbuen tiempo!

Algunos consejos para encender un poco de nerviosismo y ansiedad en la anticipación y la emoción: Es natural que los niños puedan estar ansiosos por estar lejos de casa. Por lo tanto, con la preparación viene la confianza. Empezar a poner el equipo fuera claramente visible en la habitación del niño o el piso sala de estar, mira un par de veces en la mañana y la tarde con él o ella,conseguir que familiarizarse con todo y añadir algo si viene a la mente. De esta manera se convierten en un poco más cómodo con la planificación, la ropa, etc, y la confianza de seguir.Pídales que le llevará de vuelta algo especial como recuerdo y les escriban una pequeña nota quepuede abrir todos los días. Realmente será una actividad de fomento de la confianza y el equipo.Gracias de nuevo y te veré el lunes.

Walker Creek 6th grade Outdoor Education is coming!

Excitement is high as we get ready for our next Monday trip to Walker Creek. Parent Volunteer Amy Wolf will be contacting those of you who have volunteered to be Cabin Leaders and drivers.  Here is the specific info about leaving and returning:

 

Departure from PJHS to Walker Creek:  Monday, October 3. All students come to class at the regular time. Leave all gear in the Multi Purpose Room, west wall next to the  spot where a posted  list of student names and car pool drivers will be viable.   Students will be released from class at 9:50 to help pack up and get organized for their rides.

 

Parent drivers please arrive at PJHS by 9:45 am on Monday to get organized and get your lists of students who will be going with you. Parents who are driving trucks to haul gear please arrive by 9:45 as well.

If you parent drivers are going to stay as Cabin Leaders or participate in the first hike at Walker Creek you need to bring your own lunch for the day. Lunch will be provided for all students.  If you are a parent driver, and have not yet turned in your insurance field trip forms, please do so by Wednesday of this week. Have your children pick up forms in their classrooms.

 

Return from Walker Creek :  Thursday, October 6, Closing activities conclude at Walker Creek at 12:30. You may pick your child up directly at Walker Creek at that time, but you must notify one of the two class teachers so their role is accurate. All other drivers need to be at Walker Creek by 12:15 to load and prepare for departure. All other parents may pick up their children at 1:00 at the south parking lot at PJHS. Students may then go directly home at that time. School resumes regular time the next day on Friday, October 7.

 

 

El entusiasmo es alto como nos preparamos para nuestro próximo viaje de lunes a Walker Creek. Padres Voluntarios Amy Lobo pondrá en contacto con aquellos de ustedes que se han ofrecido para ser los líderes de la cabina y pilotos. Aquí está la información específica acerca de salida y de regreso:

Salida de PJHS a Walker Creek: Lunes, 3 de octubre. Todos los estudiantes vienen a clase en el horario habitual. Outdoor Ed experience at Walker Creek

Thank you for your quick response in turning in your information and money for the upcoming Walker Creek Outdoor Education  trip  October 3-6. The children are excited and I think this will be an excellent opportunity to conduct some strong team building. Often times, these types of trips are more of a culminating event, however, by doing this relatively early, our new school will benefit for the rest of the year with increased friendships and school spirit.
Please plan on attending the Monday evening, September 19, meeting at 6:30 pm in the PJHS  multi purpose room to review our plans and provide for questions and answers.
We already have five female chaperones express interest but still need four male charperones. Adult chaperones will need to be fingerprinted etc. so this is a time sensitive issue. If you are considering doing this, call me as soon as possible. A newsletter will be sent home this Friday, primarily with 7-8 news but some applicable info for 6th as well. Thank you!

Los niños están entusiasmados y creo que esta será una excelente oportunidad para llevar a cabo algún trabajo en equipo fuerte. Ya tenemos cinco acompañantes femeninas expresar su interés, pero aún necesita cuatro charperones masculino. Acompañantes adultos tendrán que ser las huellas digitales, etc por lo que este es un tema sensible al tiempo. Si está pensando en hacer esto, me llame lo más pronto posible. Back To School Night

The first week of the new 6th grade academy is well under way!  Sixty  students eagerly arrived in their new classrooms for an introduction to their teachers and an exciting new experience. The teachers have introduced the students to a number of applications (apps) that they will be using on the Ipads and to the use of the newly installed Smart interactive boards.

You parents are invited to attend our first Back To School Night this coming Thursday, August 25 t 6:30 pm in the PJHS Multi Use Room. We will meet as a whole group for an overview and introductions and then divide into two groups in classrooms E-2 and E-3. Please plan on joining us for this informative night. This evening is planned for parents only.

La primera semana de la academia 6 º grado nuevo ya está en marcha! Sesenta estudiantes con entusiasmo llegó a sus nuevas aulas para una introducción a sus profesores y una nueva y emocionante experiencia. Los profesores han introducido a los estudiantes a una serie de aplicaciones (aplicaciones) que se va a utilizar en el iPad y el uso de las tarjetas inteligentes se instalarán interactivo.

Que los padres están invitados a asistir a nuestra primera Volver a la Escuela el próximo Jueves, 25 de agosto t 6:30 pm en el Salón de Usos Múltiples PJHS. Nos reuniremos con todo el grupo para una visión general y las introducciones y luego se dividen en dos grupos en el aula E-2 y E-3. Por favor, planee unirse a nosotros en esta noche informativa. Esta tarde está previsto que los padres solamente.
